What should a pre-doctoral/doctoral research proposal look like? What are the panel looking for?
This half day workshop is suitable for those who are planning applications for NIHR ICA funding for either a pre doctoral or doctoral fellowship. It is open to our nurses, midwives and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) from across the NIHR ARC Wessex.

13:40 – 13:50 Introduction to PCAF/CDRF (Prof Alison Richardson)
13:50 – 14:20 Session 1
What researcher support is available, what do they do and how to access it e.g. RDS, HEIs, fellowship champions
Line manager, host and NHS institution support/The academic host partner: why is this important and what does it mean?
14:20 – 14:50 Session 2
What is required from PPI? Lay Summaries and connecting to local PPI Leads:Dissemination, Implementation and Impact
14:50 – 15:00 Short break
15:00 – 15:30 Session 3
Planning: how long does an NIHR application take to plan, gather the network and write? What are panels looking for in applied health researchers – applying with confidence, selling your potential, your trajectory and chosen career pathway
15:30 – 16:00 Session 4 - Researcher experience with PCAF
16:00 – 16:15 Conclusion and Top tips (Prof Catherine Bowen)
Option to book 1:1 sessions in Spring/Summer (10 minute advice sessions)
