Speakers:

Dr Kate Lyle is a Senior Research Fellow in the Clinical Ethics, Law and Society research group at the Universities of Oxford and Southampton. Kate is a sociologist with research interests in exploring the relations between people, innovations, and the socio-technical networks in which they exist, and how this knowledge can be applied to improve outcomes and experiences. Kate’s work draws largely on theories and perspectives within the field Science and Technology Studies, and she is particularly interested in applying this perspective to improve experiences of healthcare delivery for both patients and healthcare professionals. She is currently working on the Ethical Preparedness in Genomic Medicine (EPPiGen) study, which explores the ethical and social challenges that arise for those living and working with genetic and genomic results.

Dr Susie Weller is a Senior Research Fellow in the Clinical Ethics, Law and Society research group at the Universities of Oxford and Southampton. She is also a Fellow in the National Centre for Research Methods and an Honorary Researcher at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She has 20 years’ experience of conducting research with children, youth, and families. She has been PI, Co-I, or senior researcher on a range of qualitative longitudinal studies examining connections between individual experiences and wider social processes. She is currently working on the Ethical Preparedness in Genomic Medicine (EPPiGen) study, which explores the ethical and social challenges that arise for those living and working with genetic and genomic results. She is a senior researcher on the EU YouthLife programme and is also leading a collaboration with Mass Observation. Susie is a keen methodologist with expertise in qualitative longitudinal research, creative and participatory approaches, archiving and the ethical re-use of data. With colleagues, she developed the breadth-and-depth method of analysis and co-founded the Big Qual Analysis Resource Hub.
